Update on the veggilicious adventure.
So I've been pretty good with the veggies so far... in the daily mix has been: broccoli, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, green beans... juiced parsley, spinach, beets, carrots, kale, celery..... sure, had a break over the weekend for an out-of-town wedding, but otherwise, you know... pretty decent intake.
I bought a blender today. I do plan to use it, especially once the Ultimate Meal stuff arrives. I'll consider it a supplement for all the nutrition I'm otherwise missing.
The thing is.... I feel TIRED. I'm not noticing any difference yet from the veggies....I actually feel a bit worse this week than last. Sure it could be something else... and I will of course stick with it, but it's disappointing anyway.
I must be spoiled - expecting noticeable results almost immediately, as with kettlebell training. *wink*
Maybe nutrition doesn't work that way... but it should, right? If we can feel terrible after a sugar/carb binge, why shouldn't we feel great after finally getting some needed nutrition in our diet? *sigh*
It will be nice to get TRif's take on it later this week, I'm looking forward to that.
Just worn OUT lately, today especially - double swings were okay, then 24kg RKC snatches were only 14/12... but a 32kg clean was strong, best ever. And for the first time ever, boxing practice left me totally spent - usually I feel like I would love another session soon afterward - not tonight. Tonight I would like to sleep for about 14 hours...
Orrrr get up an hour earlier than usual and try training in the morning. Chances this will happen: slim. It's a nice idea. :)
190 x 1 x 12, 210/225 static holds, 24 kg goblet squats, floor pushups 30,

This went VERY well almost all reps identical.
Realized I get better drive AND minimize shoulder stress if I unrack it
with more weight on torso than arm...

Hmmmmmm Tired? Feeling weaker? Perhaps it's time to take a few days off to recharge????? When was your last back off week? After the RKC? It might be time.
Nice work on the veggies!! I'm VERY impressed. Look at you with the blender and all. Give your body some time to cleanse itself of the toxins and you'll feel clear and light. You're doing fantastic!
Hey Nikki, a number of years ago I went strict vegan for 2 years. I was competing kickboxing when I did it, so it shouldn't weaken you. It might be just that you have to figure out what specifics work for you.
Either way, it is a LOT of work, but if you enjoy it and get the results you want, GREAT! I felt great, but I had to eat CONSTANTLY and in the end it was just too much work. Make sure you're eating all the time, and like your friend Amy said, be sure to take down time to recharge.
Hey Nikki,
Don't forget the Century City Farmers' Market on Thursdays!
It's a great place for very fresh fruits and veggies.
To address all of you... definitely not burn-out, I've had plenty of back-off time recently...
I now realize that the post does suggest a vegetarian diet, but I assure you, I will remain a meat eater. :) Just trying to add veggies to the mix, since they had been virtually non-existent.
The blender has been sitting on the counter for an hour.... I just can't bring myself to blend that yucky green stuff! Haha. (Just put away the licorice, Nikki...)
Rich, I can't believe we haven't bumped into each other there yet. Of course, I'm pretty antisocial during lunch outings, and never actually look for anyone... but I've definitely been looking forward to hitting up the farmers markets for some fresh stuff.
Last time I bought only kettle corn. *groan*
Thanks for your support, you guys. It really does help. :)
Your body is detoxifying, that's probably why you feel poorly. It's like when people with garbage in their systems drink veggie juice, they get sick.
Ultimate meal! Yes! It tastes like green peas and dirt, but you'll get used to it.
Jordan that's actually a really interesting idea re: the detox. I wonder!
And... I had my third UM today, used only a little banana this time, half ice half water... I'm starting to actually like this stuff!
Strange how I like bananas, just not in smoothies, it's gross for some reason.
Nice seeing you Nikki!
Franz, thanks so much - it was great to see you!
